Thrifting in Newark.

I went to Newark yesterday, which is about 20 miles outside the centre of Nottingham. Ed and I needed to get Doris MOT retested and the garage was just outside Newark. So we left her there to get a spring make over and we decided to go and have a wander around. Newark is a really nice place to spent a day, there are plenty of independent coffee shops, charity shops with the odd gem in them and most importantly one of my all time favourite vintage shops Vintage Vixen

Vintage Vixen is one one of those rare gems, the stock is very high quality, honest and quirky. I even got married in a dress I bought from here for £12! Pretty much every time I go here I find something exquisite. And this visit was no exception...

I am absolutely in love with my retro jumper I bought from there, I just couldn't wait to wear it out today. It is really warm too, so I think this will be a favourite for when Ed and I go campervanning in the summer for the chilly evenings. I really love pleated skirts like the one above, but I sometimes find that they are a bit 'old lady' (and not in the good sense) or unflattering, but the colour, style and length of this one is just perfect. Last but not least is the tweed jacket! It has massive shoulder pads so it makes me feel like Hilary Devey and then it cinches in dramatically at the waist, absolutely gorgeous. Three awesome vintage finds that will be staples in my 2013 wardrobe and they all came to £30! I was glowing with vintage happiness all day after this haul.

Hope you are having a great Easter weekend <3

Saturday Frolics...

Today Ed, mum, dad and I went to Shrewsbury for a little look around. We went to our favourite cafe in the market called The Bird's Nest, it is a gorgeous little shabby chic cafe with a good selection of tea which is rather refreshing.

This was Ed's fabulous soya latte and may I add you don't need to pay extra 30p for soya milk unlike some of the big corporate coffee houses!

They have Suki Tea! I totally *heart* Apple Loves Mint... YUM.

We also did a spot of vintage window shopping; so many pretty things, so little time.

I totally fell in love with this dress, but unfortunately it was a little too small in the bust for me. So it had to go back on the rail, for some other lucky girl to take it home.

Hope you have had a rather spiffing Saturday and have something stimulating planned for tomorrow! We are off to the garden centre's I think...

Before my Friend's Wedding.

On Friday my partner Ed and I went to our friend’s wedding. It was a super lovely day, despite all the rain. This was us whilst we we settling into the hotel room before the wedding began. As you can see I love men with beards hehe.

This is the first time that I have worn this dress and I absolutely adore it. This dress was handmade in the 40s, I love the thought that this dress has been alive for over 70 years. If only dresses could talk, I'm sure it could tell me lots of little secrets. This dress was an Easter present from Ed and we bought it from one of my favourite vintage shops Violet Rose Vintage. I have picked up some beautiful clothes from here and I hope to do a post on them in the future.

And last but not least I better not forget to mention the shoes...

I spied these shoes in the sale! These little beauties are by Irregular Choice and I have got to say that I have never had so many compliments on a pair of shoes before. I have only wore these twice so far, but everyone seems to just fall in love with them. The are really comfortable as well, which is a massive benefit for me as I usually wear flats. The Irregular Choice website is definitely one to go and have a browse through, it is one of those pages that I look at if I am feeling a little bit glum as all the wacky, colourful designs cheer me right up.
