End of the World Eve.

As the world was suppose to end today Ed and I decided that we better do something pretty wicked on End of the World Eve. When the invitation to go and see The Destroyers supported by Sheelanagig at the Prince of Wales came from our lovely friend Dr When we just couldn't say no!

This was one of the best gigs I have been too all year! Both bands were phenomenal. Sheelanagig seduced us to throw away our inhibitions and get our beery dance moves. Then the destroyers came out and it felt like we were in the belly on the Titanic dancing and  feeling joyous at the prospect of a better life in the new land. It was such an awesome night! And if the world did end today at least we partayed in style.

Hope you all have a fun filled Friday in store and that you are not freaking out about the dreaded dregs of Christmas shopping left to do... oh and the approaching end of the world hehe.

250 Films to Watch Before our 1st Wedding Anniversary.

Today I stumbled on a list of the Top 250 Films as voted by the users of IMDb.com. In the spur of the moment I asked Ed if we should take on this challenge together, he thought it was a great idea. So we decided it would be cool if we tried to watch all of these films before our first wedding anniversary, so this means we have a little less than a year to work through this gargantuan list. The only rules are: We have to watch these films together and we have to watch them all the way through. But we can cross films off that we have already watched together, all the way through, in the past. So this means that we can cross off..

08 - The Dark Knight (2008)
26 - Se7en (1995)
27 - Raiders of the Lost Arc (1981)
63 - Amelie (2001)
68 - The Prestige (2006)
84 - Some Like it Hot (1959)
87 - Old Boy (2003)
103 - Pan's Labyrinth (2006)
108 - Batman Begins (2005)
129 - The Big Lebowski (1998)
133 - Sin City (2005)
139 - No Country for Old Men (2007)
143 - The Sixth Sense (1999)
150 - Kill Bill Volume 1 - (2003)
156 - Black Swan (2010)
164 - Donnie Darko (2001)
176 - My Neighbour Totoro (1988)
192 - The Princess Bride (1987)
196 - Howl's Moving Castle (2004)
213 - The Truman Show (1998)
234 - La Haine (1995)
247 - The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

That means we have still got 228 films to watch in under a year. It sounds like a challenge that isn't too difficult but there are some films that I have reservations about such as Das Boot and some of the westerns. But this is all about having fun with Ed and widening our film tastes as we mostly watch world cinema, cult films and some lovely oldies. We can't wait to start crossing more off the list! If you would like to look at the full list then you can find it here and let me know if you decide to take on the challenge too!
